Reddit officially accepts videos up to 1 GB, but large uploads from phones stall, time out or sit on "processing" forever. A lean 1080p MP4 goes through on the first try.

Reddit accepts MP4 and MOV uploads up to 1 GB and 15 minutes. Uploads from some mobile apps fail well before that, individual subreddits can set their own rules, and Reddit re-compresses every video anyway. A 1080p H.264 MP4 around 100 MB uploads reliably and looks as good after Reddit's processing.
H.264 MP4 at up to 1080p, around 100 MB. Reddit re-encodes every upload, so anything beyond that is detail you upload and Reddit then discards.
| Platform limit | LimitFix aims for | |
|---|---|---|
| Video post | 1 GB | 100 MB |
| Higher quality | 1 GB | 300 MB |
Limits last checked October 4, 2026. Platforms change them; we keep this up to date.
Approximate maximum length at each quality, including audio. Simple scenes compress better; fast action needs more room.
| Quality | Longest video |
|---|---|
| 1080p, crisp | 2 min 42 s |
| 720p, sharp | 5 min 27 s |
| 480p, good on phones | 13 min |
| 360p, watchable | 27 min |
1 GB and 15 minutes for native video posts. Some subreddits set lower limits or don't allow video at all.
Large, high-bitrate files take Reddit longer to convert. Smaller files in a standard format (H.264 MP4) process much faster.
No. LimitFix compresses the video inside your browser, on your own device, so the file isn't uploaded to us or anyone else. The only exception is the optional cloud processing for Pro users, which you have to choose explicitly; those files are deleted automatically after processing.
